Internships

Summer Internships

Mid-West Tool Collectors Association (M-WTCA) is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the preservation and study of antique and traditional tools of the trades, the shop, and the farm. We study the ways that they were used and developed, and we communicate this knowledge to the general public.

One of the ways we encourage our goals is to sponsor summer internships at historic properties and museums. We partner with sites that share our values and allow interns to get valuable experiences with historic tools whether that be through historical interpretation, building preservation, or artifact conservation and cataloging as part of a museum’s collections department.

Our grants typically range from $1,000 to $5,000. Applications are only available beginning June 1 and are due by September 1 when they will be evaluated. The recipients will be notified in mid to late October after our fall, semi-annual meeting.

Applications are for historic properties and museums that we might partner with to advance the purposes of both organizations. Please Note!! These applications are NOT for individuals who are interested in the internships themselves. M-WTCA’s internship grants go to help historic sites fund their internship programs.

Applications for 2025 will be available on June 1, 2024, and will remain so until September 1, 2024.
