SPRING MEETING-SPRINGFIELD

June 14-17

You must be a member to attend as the meeting is closed to the public.  You can join MWTCA by completing the application available on this website.  Meeting badges are required for entry into all meeting functions without exception.

The Crowne Plaza located in Springfield, IL will host the 2017 Spring meeting of the Mid-West Tool Collectors Association.  Room rate, good for three days prior and after the meeting, is $109 for double occupancy (breakfast is NOT included).   These special room rates will only be available until May 27, 2017.  Registration cost is $64 per person.  Registration materials were mailed to members the week of April 17th.

The men’s display theme for the Spring meeting will be “tool advertising”.   We would like to see what you have in signs, salesman samples, promotional items such as tape measures, rulers, etc.

Wednesday evening Welcome Reception will feature a Philly style cheese steak sandwich.  The Hospitality room will open at 8 PM for dessert and refreshments.

Tailgate tool trading will start early Thursday morning.  The men’s program on Thursday evening will feature a presentation by David Heckel on Advertising Stanley’s “four Square” tools.  On Friday we expect to have several demonstrators to show off their skills in the Trade Room.  At 8:30 AM displays will be ready for viewing followed by tool trading at 10 AM.   At 2:00 PM Ian Hunt from the Lincoln Museum will present a program on Lincoln’s inventions and tools.  Friday evening we are expecting another great auction.  Please consider bringing tools to the auction as this has proven to be a great venue for their sale.

The Auxiliary display theme for the meeting is “Life’s Journey”.   You can display a few items or many to reflect your life and interests.   Thursday evening will feature Meet and Greet with introductions and the opportunity for sharing.  Friday will include the book review at 2 PM and Friday evening Kathryn Harris, retired Lincoln Library service director will depict Elizabeth Keckly, a former slave who was Mary Todd Lincoln’s dressmaker and friend.  On Saturday the Auxiliary luncheon will be followed by a presentation by Dave Pangrac on the AMAZING HONEYBEE.

For those members that can only attend on Saturday we again are offering registration for “Saturday Only” with the trade room opening at 6:30 AM.  The What’s It session will be held in the Trade Room at 10:30 AM.   At 2:00 PM Terry Jones, Site Services, will present the history of Lincoln’s New Salem.  Refer to information provided on back page.

Saturday evening we will close out the meeting with a banquet, short business meeting, drawing of attendance prizes and a presentation by Randy Duncan, a member of the Association of Lincoln Presenters who are dedicated to bringing Abraham Lincoln to life through presentations that educate, entertain, and inspire.  Bring your camera to show your friends you were with Abe.
